Currently Loving - Autumn Trends

Hello lovelies!

I thought I'd share with you a few clothing items I've loving this Autumn. All of these in fact are my staples most years, but I've had a hunt online for a few key pieces on the high street I thought were too good not to share.

Jumpers

BooHoo Black Rib Knit / Newlook Rainbow Cosy Jumper / River Island Leopard Print Turtleneck

Nothing beats a cosy jumper. I challenge you to find something as soft & comforting as a snugly jumper. This year I've been loving stripes. Rainbow print, block colour, anything that screams 90's. This one from New Look just looks so warm & thick. You definitely need one of these for your Winter wardrobe. I've also included a plain black jumper, these just go with everything. I love the simple look of blue jeans & a basic jumper. And finally, how cute is this leopard print one from River Island? The model on the website has styled it with black pleather shorts, which I love, but I can also see it styled with a black knitted skirt, tights & boots. Definitely going to pick this one up next pay day! 

Scarf / Snoods

Newlook Checked Scarf / BooHoo Over-sized Block Scarf 

Scarves make me so happy. You can see my striped theme running from the jumpers into this section too.. just look how cute the patterns are on these two! I'm also a massive fan of snoods at this time of year as well. I hate having a cold neck & will do anything to avoid it! You can guarantee that if I haven't got a roll neck jumper on, I'm wearing a scarf.


Knee High Boots

Ah I'm obsessed with knee high boots. I just love them. I have a pair of black & grey ones & this year, I'm extremely tempted to purchase a brown pair! I struggle with finding the perfect knee high boot though.. I've lost count of the amount of them that I've tried on & they haven't fitted me properly. It's usually the upper part of the boot & making sure it stays up when you're walking around that I find the most tricky when picking out a new pair! I end up striding around the shop testing them out! No wonder James hates shopping with me.. These 3 pairs I've picked out above, I just loved, all for different reasons. The first pair are just so glamorous. I can see myself rocking these for a night out with jeans & a nice top. The black pair look more day time but also suitable for evening & I was drawn to the fact they weren't high-heeled, as my pair kill my feet if I'm wearing them all day! & finally the brown pair, I picked these out because I'm on the market for a brown pair of boots like I said & these looked so comfy. They also have the tie at the top, so no danger of falling down my legs!

Faux Fur Coats

New Look Bear Coat / New Look Faux Fur Teddy Coat / Animal Print Faux Fur Coat

Just saying those 3 words & knowing I can now wear coats again makes me so happy. I purchased the ultimate fluffy bear coat from Pull & Bear at the beginning of the year & I absolutely love it! I've been wearing it this week (before the mini heat wave last Wednesday / Thursday!) & have felt so happy. I really struggled to pick out just 3 from the high street for this category, but after purchasing a pink faux fur coat about 2 years ago & trying to make it work & failing (I had to buy it in 2 sizes too big & it just swamped me!) I wanted to include another one I thought would be a suitable alternative. The first brown coat I've selected is quite similar to mine, but it has a collar & I actually think I prefer it to the Pull & Bear one. It looks super cosy! The final one I'm sure won't be to everyone's taste & to be honest, I can't actually explain why it caught my eye, but just the colours & print were too cute to resist.

The Ultimate Red Jumper Wishlist

What is it about the colour red that screams Christmas?!

There's just something super Hygge about wrapping yourself up in an over-sized knitted jumper, with a hot chocolate, while watching a film. Am I right?

I've picked out a few of my favourite from the high street this year. I even included a bright fluffy orange one for a slightly different take on the standard red & there's even one for the furry friend in your life!

Let's start with this dark red number from Boohoo. I'm not usually a fan of cropped jumpers, I mean, who wants a cold belly in Winter?! However, the back of this jumper is what sold it to me. I love the twist detailing, it just gives it something a bit extra.

 The next two are just classics in my eyes. The first one I wanted to include because it comes in so many different colours, so if red isn't your thing, they also do black, grey, blue & even mustard (which I'm quite tempted by) The tie detailing down the side of the darker red one is so pretty, it really adds a bit of special detailing to an otherwise plain jumper.

Let's be honest, you can't go wrong with a cardigan. I don't actually own many, I'm usually more of a jumper girl, but this one was too cute not to include.

So, dog lovers amoung us, how adorable is this!? Esecpailly as it has a Dachshund on the front. Honey would definitely approve of this one. I also had to include this adorable Christmas jumper for your own little fur baby. I love that it has little antlers & a hood!

& finally, a fluffy orange jumper! This just looked so soft & cosy, I'm desperate to add it to my collection despite it being in the teens section!

What I've Learnt From Moving Out

Hello lovelies!

Can you believe I moved out of my parent's house on 13th April, that's over 6 months ago! Time really does fly. It feels like we've been in our little flat for ages, but at the same time, not that long at all. We are currently half way through our tenancy, then we have to decide whether to stay another year or move out. James & I are still discussing this & the we quite like the idea of getting a bigger place, so we'll have to see how we're feeling after Christmas.

I wanted to share with you a few things that I've learnt over the past few months since moving out.

It's expensive

Ok, so I had a rough idea of how much renting would be. I'd budgeted, done the maths of the rent, bills, food & living etc, but I never expected it to feel so.. annoying! Gone are the days where I used to be able to browse ASOS & add multiple things to my basket, where as now I have to ration myself in Primark to one jumper per visit & only pick up essentials when I'm literally scraping the barrel. It's a whole new ball game, but one I'm managing to keep on top of, I just would love to go out & buy ALL THE CLOTHES.

Vouchers / coupons / loyalty cards are your friends

A while ago, I sat down with Elisa (who is the master of finding deals & bargains!) & we went through all her store cards that are free & that can save you money. A lot I already had, such as a Boots Advantage Card, Tesco Clubcard & multiple coffee shop cards, however when your starting to make your space your own, having an Ikea Family Card was one of the best deals we found! You get discounts on sale items, food & on selected products. Not to mention free tea & coffee when you shop! I also got a Waitrose Card, which (to be honest, I rarely shop there, but still) means you get a free tea or coffee when you buy groceries & scan your card at the till. Makes popping to get milk a little bit more enjoyable! & finally a Nectar Card. I've never had one of these because we always shop in Tesco as a rule, but since we do have a Sainsbury's in town, it was worth getting. However, the best part of a Nectar Card is you can link it up to eBay & earn points by purchasing items on there! So I already have a nice stack of points building up just from buying random bits & pieces each month! 

You have no free time

This may sound like a silly one, but have you noticed how little I've posted since the beginning of April? It's because I literally have no time. I'm sure this is just something I've managed to do to myself, but if I'm sitting on the sofa & I spy a cobweb or something needs dusting, I have to sort it then & there! & sure enough, once I've finished cleaning every room, it all needs doing again! I barely manage to do anything other than work, clean & think about cleaning..

You do adult things, because nobody is going to do them for you

Yup. It's true. Mum is no longer going to 'drop that to the post office for you' as it's on the way to town. Your going to have to go to the post office yourself. Your going to have to ring your agency because your freezer door won't shut properly. Your going to have to do the Tesco shop with one of the scary trolleys that don't turn corners every week. I don't like having adult responsibilities.

You don't take anything for granted

When I was writing out points for this blog post, one of the first things I wrote was 'dishwasher withdrawal symptoms' & it's true. I think we get used to having all these luxuries when in fact when we move out, we're almost starting from the bottom & working ourselves up again. I don't mind doing the washing up, however I would like to put my feet up for 20minutes as opposed to standing looking at a wall while cleaning the pots & pans.

You build stronger relationships

Most of you know, I moved in with my partner James & even though we've been together nearly 5 years, we've never lived together before. Obviously this has affected our relationship, but it's made us appreciate the other one a lot more. I actually love the feeling of coming home to him at night, when he's hopefully got the dinner started (he finishes work at 6pm, I'm usually 8.30pm) & just knowing he's there is such a nice feeling. I'm kinda hoping he feels the same, when he comes home from work & I've spent the day cleaning / tidying & I'm there to jump on him as I've missed him all day. I also wanted to mention my relationship with my family as well. Moving out has definitely brought me closer to my mum in many ways. As I've mentioned above, I've been doing things I wouldn't usually do, but that doesn't mean she hasn't been there every step of the way, holding my hand if needed. I find when we do see each other (usually twice a week) we have a lot more to catch up on & it's nice to visit my doggies & have a cup of tea & cake with her.

& finally, I just wanted to write about why I decided to blog about this. At the end of September, my parents went on holiday for a couple of days, so I stayed over at my old house, with Honey & looked after the chickens. While I was there, I was totally happy don't get me wrong, but I knew I wasn't home. I was thinking about the flat & if James had remembered to put on the washing (he had, yay!) & all the bits I needed to do there. I was missing it & it felt weird to get into my 'old bed' as opposed to our one at home. Of course, my parent's house will always be special to me, however, I'm so overwhelmed by how much I missed our flat, it made me really happy to know that we made the right choice to move out when we did & that the place is extremely special to me.

Spreadsheets & budgeting really do pay off!

What I'm Taking To Corfu

Hello lovelies!

As some of you may know, I'm off to Corfu for a week on Monday! I couldn't be more excited. I wanted to share with you what I'm taking with me, this post actually helped me so much when I came to pack & I needed a check list. Hopefully it'll give you a few ideas on what to take as well if you're jetting off on holiday this Summer.

I'll start off by saying I'm terrible when it comes to packing. What usually happens is I'll start packing a week before I need to go. This will include all the clothes, sun cream etc. that I won't need in the run up to leaving. Only problem is it gets to the day before & I have to un-pack everything because I'm convinced I've forgotten to pack something! Silly really, but this year I made a tick list & as items go in, I marked them off & know they are safely in my suitcase.

So firstly, the ear plugs, travel pillow & eye mask I actually got in a set from Tiger & they were such amazing value! They come in a range of colours, I bought mine last year in pink & I bought James the set in black this year. Yes, I enjoy being one of those couples with matching accessories, James does not share my enthusiasm..!

I couldn't live without my gorilla pod. I picked mine up from Amazon, they seem to stock loads & in all different colours. Perfect for holiday as I'm planning on vlogging our trip!

Ok, you might be thinking I'm a bit weird carrying pants in my luggage, but my worst nightmare is for my main suitcase to get lost & have no clean underwear! Shorts are a must as well, as I'm travelling in the early hours of the morning (our flight is at 5.55am so we'll be leaving the house around 4am!) so I'll be wearing jeans / leggings on the plane, but I know it's going to be extremely hot when we land & nothing beats the feeling of changing into cooler clothes on arrival!

& I don't know about you, but my ears pop & hurt like crazy when I'm flying & sweeties seem to help a lot so I won't ever fly without them.

& finally, there is nothing worse then feeling ill or headachy on a flight, so I always bring medication just in case along with my contact lens solution & pot, in case my eyes get dry. I'd be completely blind without my glasses, so they have to come too!

A lot of the time I'll just be in my swimming stuff as we have a pool at the villa, but will need bras & possibly a cardigan if it gets chillier in the evenings. We're going for 7 nights, so will wear the evening dresses for two nights each, then I have a spare jumpsuit / playsuit for a final night.

I've decided to only take 4 pairs of shoes! Shock horror (I always take too many & never wear them!) One black & one white pair of sandals / flip flops, pair of trainers for when we go exploring & finally some heeled sandals for the evening.

The sunhat is a must of course, whether I'll be able to squash that into my suitcase is another matter.. it might have to come with me in the hand luggage.

I'm going to use it to store my necklaces & earrings in, as I'll be wearing more formal ones for the evening meals. I thought this was such a clever idea!

Christmas Gift Ideas For Him

Chocolate & Wine Hamper 

The first gift I'd like to talk about is this hamper. Designed I think for the older man in your life, (I know my Grandad & James' stepdad would love this!) A mixture of chocolate & alcohol is the perfect combination at Christmas. It includes a bottle of Merlot & dark chocolate in mint & ginger.

As we're all aware, beards are very 'on trend' at the moment. I know quite a few of my friends have gone down the hairy face path. This mug just put a massive smile on my face & thought it would be perfect for a novelty Christmas present.

If you know someone that loves a good book, you can't go wrong with a Kindle. I bought one for myself last summer & wouldn't be without it (& I only read on holiday) It really is such a lovely gift if you wanted to spend a bit more on someone this Christmas.

In the world we currently live in, you can't escape having fitness & healthy eating thrust upon you. These would be perfect for someone who doesn't have the time or money to spend going to the gym every week, but wants to start off the year new with a fitness boost. You can use these in the comfort of your own home, plus they come in a range of pretty colours. What's not to love?

Ah a watch. You can't go wrong with one of these. Every man needs a watch in his life, so he's never late for that special date with you!

Rudolph Slippers

I love these, I'm quite tempted to order a pair & find someone to give them too because they are just too cute! They also look incredibly soft & warm, perfect for Winter!

Sphero

When I first heard about this, I was completely baffled by it, but the more I hear about it, the more I'm intrigued by it! If you don't know what a Sphero is, it's a small robotic ball which you can control by a smartphone or tablet. You can play games with it & I thought it would be perfect if you know a 'gamer' who would like something a bit different this Christmas.
