What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #45

ELF - Dark Navy & Poundland - Chit Chat / Barry M - Lavender Glitter Top Coat & Lap Of Honour / Leighton Denny - Star Dust / M&S - Chrome & Treasure Chest

This post is so over-due, I apologise. These are all my festive nails for the Christmas period, but don't worry, you can still rock glitter in January!

Chit Chat was an absolute bargain of a nail polish, I picked it up a year or so ago in Primark & it's one of my favourite glitter top coats. It's got so many different colours in it, it gets a lot of attention for a £1 polish!

If anyone asked me to pick my favourite combination of a glitter top coat & base colour, these 2 Barry M polishes would be coming in at number 1. I love how they look together.

These were my Christmas Day nails. We had our Christmas work party a few days before & as I was undecided on what to wear (I eventually chose a black jumpsuit) I thought sliver would be a perfect option, it just goes with everything! This polish was actually one of the gifts from the M&S beauty advent calendar & it couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

& finally my New Year's nails. I thought I'd mix it up with a bit of gold. These 2 beautiful polishes were a gift from Auntie Jules for Christmas & I love them! They go so perfectly together & looked fab on New Years with an all black outfit. Not sure why I decided to go all black this year but there we go..

What have you been wearing on your nails this month? January's selection has actually been a bit boring. I've been trying to give my nails a bit of a rest this month as I find wearing glitter & removing it can damage them quite a lot, so I've just been going for a few basic base coats.

Hope you're having a lovely week : D

Life Lately #139

Hi lovelies,

Why did someone forget to remind me how busy December is!? Literally, I have no time to breathe at the moment. My diary is fit to burst & with one day off in the lead up to Christmas, it's all a bit manic.

I managed to meet up with my girlies at Nandos the week before last for a catch up over some chicken. I also got to see Boop for a Christmas drink at Costa which was so lovely. We went after work about 6pm & it was so quiet. Perfect time to have a drink & catch up over a hot chocolate. We also went & bought her perfume with the voucher I gifted her for her birthday earlier this year.

I mentioned in my previous post that James & I celebrated our 5 year anniversary a week early, so last Friday, we had a cosy night in with a takeaway. You can read about what we got up to here for our actual anniversary if you like.

Like I mentioned, December has started! This year I was kindly gifted the M&S advent calendar by my mum, which I adore. All the products I've opened so far have been beautiful & I get so excited opening it each night! I'm filming each day over on my Instagram stories, so make sure you're following me over there to see what I get!

On 3rd December, James & I put up our Christmas tree! This is the first one we've ever bought together, so it felt really special putting it up & decorating it. It looks so pretty in our little flat, I can't wait to stuff a million & 1 pressies underneath!

We also put on our Christmas bedding last week. I don't know what it is about Christmas duvets, but they just make everything so much better!

Oh look at Harv. He's been feeling extremely Christmassy this week. I popped round to see mum & wrap a few pressies & write some cards & he was so adorable. He even posed for a picture with his christmas hat on.. keep an eye out for that in the next few weeks!

& finally, panto has started at work! Friends & family are invited with staff to the dress rehearsal each year, so my parents joined James & I for the annual event. We are currently wearing bright green t-shirts & feeling extremely festive at work! If any of you work in retail / entertainment. I feel your pain. NOT LONG TILL CHRISTMAS THOUGH!

Our 5 Year Anniversary!

Hello lovelies!

On Friday, James & I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. I mean, how crazy is that!? In a way, it sorta doesn't feel that long as it's like he's been apart of my life forever, but at the same time, it's gone so quickly.. weird huh?

Due to time off work & booking the hotel that we did, we actually celebrated a week early. James' Dad & Maria kindly bought us a Secret Escapes voucher for Christmas last year, so we used it to book a night's stay at the beautiful Warren House.

We didn't want to travel too far from home, meaning the outskirts of London was a good option for us. Warren House is in Kingston-Upon-Thames, which is about an hours drive away. We decided to make a few stops on the way to our hotel, starting with Chessington Garden Centre. I absolutely love it here. We used to visit quite often when James worked at Chessington World Of Adventures, but we hadn't been since early Spring. It looked so beautiful & festive. Garden centres are one of my favourite places to go to meet a friend for tea or lunch as there's always so much to see & eat! Perfect place to pick up a unique Christmas pressie.

The added bonus of this particular garden centre is it's dog friendly & there's even a assigned place for doggies. It gave me the chance to sneakily take a few photos of cute ones!

After lunch, we then headed to Jurassic Encounter Golf, which was literally down the road from the garden centre. Despite it being freezing, it was really good fun. James actually plays golf properly, but mini golf is about as far as my ability will stretch, so it's fun to play it together, despite it getting seriously competitive!

We could check into our hotel from 3pm, so we'd timed our arrival about 4pm, just when it was starting to get dark. We were greeted with prosecco & were shown to our room, which over-looked the gardens.

After a few glasses & a nap we went down for dinner at 7pm & basically had the dining room to ourselves! We were wined & dined & truly spoilt with a three-course meal. I had salmon pate for starter, James had goats cheese ravioli & we both had a steak for main & white chocolate cheesecake for pudding. To say we were full afterwards was an understatement!

The next morning, we woke to a full English breakfast & an all-you-can-eat continental buffet in one of the many dining rooms. It was soooo delicious.

We then wanted to explore a bit of the local area before heading home & after some researching online, we headed to Richmond Park. Neither of us really knew what to expect, but when we started to drive through, we couldn't actually believe how close we were to London! We honestly felt as though we were in the middle of the New Forest! There was so many beautiful deer as well, this massive 'army' that we found as well as a smaller heard, with a gorgeous red stag.

We had a walk through the woods & despite it being freezing cold, the sun was shinning & it honestly felt so Christmassy! I'm honestly so sad I'd never been before, but can't wait to go back again already!

Have you ever visited Bushy Park? That one is next on our list!

Hope you're having a wonderful December so far lovelies! The Christmas countdown has officially started! Make sure your following me on all my social media (links below!), as I'm truly in the Christmas spirit this year. Also, I was lucky enough to recieve the M&S Advent calendar from my mum & I'm opening each day of my Instagram stories if you wanted to check that out as well!

I would love to read your Christmassy blog posts, so please leave them in a comment down below.

What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #41

Fearne Cotton - Cotton Candy
How pretty is this shade? Seriously. I love it so much.

Marks & Spencer - Blue
Another classic that I've added to my collection recently. A baby blue is never far away from my nails.

Fearne Cotton - Lemon Drizzle
Yellow is one shade that I never used to like wearing, but as soon as the sun comes out, I always crave painting them a bright colour. Again, I think it's quite 'marmite' & sometimes I look at them & think they are horrible, but sometimes I love them! I really have a love / hate relationship with yellow nail varnish!

Fearne Cotton - Lemon Drizzle & Marks & Spencer - Silver Mix
Again, I was going through a 'they look too bright' stage & decided to add a bit of glitter & instantly fell in love with them again! What do you think?

How has May been for you lovelies? Sorry again for the lack of posts but I'm actually enjoying sitting & blogging when I feel like it, not when I have too. I'm lucky to say this is still a hobby for me, so I can take or leave it when I chose, which is how I like it to be.

What are your plans for the weekend? : )

Why It Is So Important To Go To Regular Bra Fittings

Hello lovelies,

Today's blog is a little different. I wanted to talk about my recent experience of going to my first bra fitting & why it is so important.

Now I know what you're thinking. "Cat, you're 26 & you've never been to a have your bra fitted?" The answer is no, no I haven't. You might ask me why. Well, there are a number of reasons.

Firstly, it's embarrassing.
I'm not one of those people who feels extremely comfortable with a complete stranger seeing me in my underwear & as I have zero body confidence. The idea of someone watching me take off my clothes & measure me while I stand there changing into different bras filled me with dread.

Secondly, the judgement.
This one sounds silly even to me as I know that hundreds of women go to fittings & are told they are wearing the wrong size. But I was so paranoid that I was wearing something completely wrong & they would look at me like I'm an idiot.

& thirdly, I didn't know what to expect.
As I had never been to a fitting before, like most things, I had no idea what to expect. This scared me, like most things in life that I've never done before!

So anyway, despite all this, I decided after talking to my best friend, to go to my first fitting. I've noticed over the last year, I've had a few back problems (not sure what is causing them) but I also have really bad posture. I notice when I'm standing I'll hunch over a bit & I'm also guilty of not sitting straight in a chair. I know sometimes this can relate to wearing the wrong sized bra (I know it could be many other things) but thought I might as well go & see if getting fitted with the correct bra would help.

So, onto my actual experience.

I decided to book an appointment at my local M&S as my friend had been there before. It's a free consultation & the allocated slot is 20 minutes. I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment & waited a few minutes for a lady to come round who took me into a fitting room. It was slightly different to a normal fitting room as it had 2 sections with a curtain hanging across the middle. As I was quite nervous, I did manage to tell her it was my first fitting so she proceeded to tell me what she was going to do. That helped a lot, so I had a clear plan in my head. She asked me to remove my jumper & top but keep my bra on, which actually wasn't too awkward & she used a tape measure to measure under my boobs. After she'd taken the measurement, she went to find some bras in my size in a few different styles for me to try.

While I was waiting I noticed that the fitting room like most fitting rooms had tons of mirrors in it, showing every different angle on my body & there I was standing in my bra & jeans. Until I caught sight of myself, I was feeling ok, but I quickly sat down & started looking through my phone as a distraction until the lady returned. She wasn't long & came back with about seven different bras for me to try.

Ok, so onto the most awkward bit. She handed me the first bra to try & just looked back at me so I took it this was my queue to change into it. I turned around & thought she was going to pull the curtain but she didn't. I know this is totally my fault as I should have asked her too, or done it myself, but I just carried on & got changed in front of her, but it was the most awkward thing ever. This is going to sound weird as well, but I put my bra on a completely different way to how people usually do it, so that was extremely embarrassing as I'm sure I could feel her watching me. I had to do this for all seven bras & each time she would ask how they fitted & had a look at how my boobs were in the bra. I didn't mind that as she was pointing out different parts that I'd never noticed before, but I was equally quite flustered as all I could think about was this woman judging me.

So after trying on what felt like hundreds on the damn things, we selected two sets of two that fitted me best & she left the fitting room, leaving me to change back into my clothes.

So there I was. Standing in the fitting room, feeling extremely hot & bothered with a few bras clutched in my hand. I did really like the ones she'd picked out & we went for a balcony style which I don't tend to even glance at in shops, but actually, I loved how my boobs looked in the them. I decided to purchase a set of two in a light pink & black lace & felt extremely excited when I left the store.

So, overall I'm extremely proud of myself for going. I can't say I enjoyed it but I'm going to make myself go regularly (they recommend every six months) but it's on my list to do at least once a year. I would encourage you to go if you've never been, just to give you a rough idea of the size you should be wearing & to learn about all the different bras that are available now, because there are just so many! How is a girl to choose?!

When I came home from the fitting & tried on my new bras in the comfort of my own home, I felt like a new woman. So even if you don't enjoy the experience of going, remember the end result is worth it. I literally felt up-lifted.. ;D

Oh & the most exciting part of the fitting that I forgot to mention, I was actually wearing the right size all along! Just not the right style of bra for my boobs, so overall, a success in itself.

I would love to hear your experiences with bra fittings & how often you go to get measured. Have you had an experience similar to mine?

What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #34

Missguided - Misschievous
This is such a summery shade, I love wearing it with a bright red lip & a little black dress in the evening. It's one of those polishes that looks so expensive but I actually got it free with a magazine a few years ago!

Natural Collection - Black Cherry & Ciate - Caviar Pearls - Shooting Star
If I'm honest, I have no idea how I came up with this nail art! I just envisioned it in my head & went for it. I love the nude base colour here, it's one of my all time favourites.

Marks & Spencer's - Blue
How gorgeous is this baby blue? I'm obsessed with it as you can probably see from me using it twice in one post!

Marks & Spencer's - Blue & Collection - Sparkle Top Coat
I thought it looked lovely on it's own, but couldn't resist adding a bit of glitter. I really want to try it with a matte top coat as well as I think that'll look beautiful too.

What have you been wearing on your nails this month? : )
