Week In Photos #23

Sleeeeepy animals / Turkey - growing so much! / Galaxy parcel / Champagne! / Pumpkins #1 / Pumpkins #2 / Potato hearts / Flowers for my mum / Primark nails / Fireworks #1 / Fireworks #2 / Dinnnnnner.

Oh my goodness, between work & sleeping, I haven't actually done much this past week!

Actually, I lie. I managed to carve my very first pumpkin (without the help of my Dad & only a little from Matt!) Can you guess which mine is?

Oh & I had an interview on Friday for a contracted position at work & I got it! So so so happy, so we bought champagne & celebrated Friday night. Going out with everyone to celebrate later this evening, after a night of dressing up at work. : )

& of course, you know it's a special day today, which means.. Honey has a new outfit to show you..

Happy Halloween!

Chocolate Mousse

Lately Matt has been treating me to alot of lovely dinners. (He seems to love cooking, I'm not complaining..!) so I thought I'd make my 'signature' pudding for him last week, chocolate mousse. I do know the recipe, but I always have this book on hand if I forget any details or what technique I'm supposed to use. It's a lovely chocolate recipe book by Kate Shirazi.

What you'll need:

225g plain chocolate
4 large eggs
25g caster sugar
150ml whipping cream

Step 1: Melt your chocolate (I do this using a bowl over a saucepan of boiling water) & leave it to cool slightly. I also used two bowls to speed up the melting!

Step 2: Separate your egg yolks from your egg whites & beat the egg yolks.

Step 3: You'll then need to whisk in the chocolate a little bit at a time until it is combined with the egg yolk.

Step 4: Grab another bowl (or saucepan in my case!) & whisk the egg whites with the sugar until they form soft peaks.

Step 5: Whisk a third of the mixture into the chocolate mixture & then fold in the rest.

Step 6: Pour the cream into another bowl & whisk it until it forms soft peaks, then pour it into the chocolate mixture.

Step 7: Once everything has been mixed in, pour your mousse into your pots & put them into the fridge to set for at least an hour.

Step 8: Take them out about an hour before your going to serve them, this makes them taste even yummier!

*Extra tip! If you want to add a chocolate heart or any other shape on top of the mousse like I have, use the remaining melted chocolate (there's always some left at the bottom of the bowl) & draw your shape onto the mousse before popping it in the fridge*

& that's it! So simple to do lovelies! Let me know if you try this recipe! : )

Week In Photos #22

Chocolate mousse #1 / Chocolate mousse #2 / Chocolate mousse #3 / Awesome carving on our walk #1 / Awesome carving on our walk #2 / Presents from Leia & Pete / Mum's birthday meal, my nan is so adorable / Meal again / Main / NOTW / Baby glitter nails / Christmas candles / Mum's birthday presents / Smiley sausage roll / My new mug - TEA!
Ah, it's been such a busy week as you can see!

It was my lovely mum's birthday yesterday, so we spent the weekend celebrating. We had a family meal Saturday night for her (so.. much.. food!) with my grandparents too. How adorable is my nan bless her!

I went to Matt's for dinner in the week & he always cooks me such amazing food, I thought it was only fair to attempt to make something in return. (Even at the risk of poisoning him..) so I opted for chocolate mousse. I've made them before & they seemed to get a good reaction (by that I mean nobody died after eating them..) I took photos while I made them so might make it into a post if any of you would be interested?

& finally I picked up some Christmas candles on Sunday. I know Christmas is 2 months away & I hate anything Christmasy before December, but these smell amazing! 4 for £3.99? You can't really complain. : D

Hope you all had fab weekends. : D

OOTD - A-Cross We Go

(I need to hoover..)
Top - Primark / Maxi - Primark / Vest top - Unknown / Shoes - Primark / Necklace & headband - New Look / Nails - Models Own

This is another outfit that has been sitting waiting to be posted for a couple of weeks now - you can probably tell as it's got alot chillier in the UK - going out like this, I'd probably freeze!

Still loving all the crosses that are around at the moment - however this top is a bit strange. It has a very large fishtail on the back of it, I wasn't keen on it, but can totally hide it by tucking it in to a skirt or a pair of jeans. The cross pattern was too adorable to pass up on though. : )

I'm also sad all the Summer clothes are now being hidden away for another year, but gives me a chance to lust after all the gorgeous boots & winter accessories going into the shops! Bring it on Winter! This year I will be ready for you..

Last Friday Honey turned 3, I can't believe it! She still seems like a baby to me (I guess she always will be to be honest..) but yeah. She will have been with us 3 years at Christmas. Gone so quick. We decided to take photos to celebrate.. : )

I also pestered Matt so much recently about taking me on his motorbike, he finally gave in yesterday. However, I wasn't allowed anywhere near it in my normal clothes & ended up looking like a multi-coloured Michelin man. He took me to a biker cafe (like this one) - which was hilarious. Even with all my 'biker clothes' on, I was still wearing my heels & I swear I was getting the weirdest looks. : ' )

How was your weekend? : )

An Autumn Walk

Slightly different post this week. I thought I'd show you some photos from a walk I went on with Matt last weekend. It's the perfect weather at the moment, slightly chilly but not freezing & the leaves are slowly changing colour. So beautiful where I live. : )

Oh & who can resist a couple of blackberries on a walk (even if most of them were bright red & sour!)

* Please ask if you'd like to use any of my photos & link them back to me! Thanks! : )

Skylash

Mascaras have always been a problem for me. My natural eyelashes are very small & straight, so finding the right mascara is a bit of a pain. I love having long lashes but getting to an acceptable standard for me is really difficult. After hearing so much about Skylash, I decided to give it a go.

First of, let me just say the packaging is too damn cute. I love the little skyscraper & how striking it looks against the white background.

The wand is also amazing, it has one long & one short side of bristles & is flexible.

The shorter bristles are designed to give you volume & the long side is to increase the length of your eyelashes.

It's a total bargain - £3.99 (currently an offer in Boots!) I just couldn't resist.

& look at my lashes! This was after I applied two coats.

So pleased with this product - do you have a favourite mascara?

Chocolate orange hand wash! Smells amazing / NOTW #1 / Chocolate surprise / DOH face / Salad time! / OOTD / Melon balls, starter / Roast, main / Cheesecake, pudding / Most delicious cake ever / Phillip the pheasant returned / Tim did a show at work last weekend / NOTW #2 / Meal with Leia, Keiran & Pete / Slush puppy love.

I always look back at week in photos & I'm amazed how much food I photograph. Maybe that's because I eat alot, or just because I love taking pictures of food. I don't actually know..

It's Friday, yay! First day off in a week & back in tomorrow so I'm making the most of it today. Going to pick up Pete in a minute, think we're having a chilled day & watching Parent Trap. Such a good film.

What have you got planned for the weekend lovelies?

Topshop Lipstick - Pillow Talk

I've seen so many people rave about Topshop lipsticks, I couldn't resist picking up one on my last trip to Brighton. It annoys me how small my local Topshop is, it doesn't have a beauty section at all, so I either have to order online or just scoop some up when I venture out of town. : )

After a lot of debating, I decided to buy Pillow Talk, a gorgeous matte pink shade.

If you've been reading my blog for a while now, or know me personally, you'll know I adore a good lipstick. Especially a pink one. The shade, & smell just got me hooked. One thing I will say about the lipstick, is it is quite drying. If you're like me & have naturally dry lips (especially made worse in Winter) you'll need to apply this lipstick with a balm. I usually apply the balm under & on top of the lipstick, just to give it a natural gloss on the matte & keep my lips looking healthy.

Have you tried any of the Topshop lipsticks? I've already got Brighton Rock on my wishlist.. : )
