I'm Seeing Spots

Hey gorgeous girlies. So Thursday, I went to the hairdressers. You'll all be pleased to know I went for it.. I got a fringe! (Probably not the most amazing headline news to most of you, but a big change for me as I haven't had one for years!)

Right so down to my outfit post. Sorry I could only get two pictures, the lighting on the other ones I took were awful & I apologise you can see the side of my bin. Was the only place I could find with the white wall behind me.

Top - free in a magazine!
  Cardigan - Clobber £7.99
  Skirt - Primark £4
Belt - Primark £3
  Tights - Tesco
Slippers - Tesco (I did wear proper shoes when I went out don't worry!)

I'm a little useless, so I'm sorry I haven't got all the prices down, the slippers were a gift & the tights came in a pack & I have no idea how much they were! I got back from Leicester about an hour ago, just made myself a cup of tea & I'm snacking on a chocolate orange. I have work at 4.30 tonight, so I need to start getting ready in a bit when all I really want to do is sleep! Because it was my boyfriend's birthday yesterday, we went out Saturday night & his brother bought him a onesie! So funny. This is the only picture I could find that looked similar, obviously it was an adult version! He had a really cute heart-shaped tail too. N'aww. : )

How was every one's weekend? I'm sorry to all of you I follow, I'll be catching up on all your posts tomorrow. : D

Nude With A Twist

Hello girls! I'm currently rushing around like a mad woman, getting ready to go to the hairdressers in about an hour & packing ready to go off to Leicester tonight. So much to do! Anyway, I thought I'd do a quick blog on my current nails. Say goodbye to the pink & hello to the nude glitter.

So nude colours were huge this Winter, my nails basically stayed the same colour for ages (which is quite unusual, I usually change them once a week at least) but the nude colour just seemed to go with everything. This is the one I've got:

This colour is called Whimsy, it's designed by Barbara Daly & I got it from Tesco. I'm afraid I can't remember how much it was because I got it way back in Summer. But I love the shade. Obviously you can make it darker or lighter depending on how many layers you paint on. Now because I'm going to Leicester this weekend for my boyfriend's birthday, we're going out clubbing Saturday night, so I decided to jazz up my nails a bit more by adding some glitter:

I used my Rimmel London nail polish. I find it's quite good but the brushes are usually quite thick so you cant get too much detail with them. As you can see, I added the glitter to the tips of my nails. This just brightens them up a bit & makes them sparkle.

Anyway girls, I must dash off to the hairdressers now. I'm being brave & deciding to have a fringe. (I haven't had one since I was about 9, so hopefully I'll be brave & just do it!) I'm off tonight so I'm not sure when I'll be able to blog next, but hopefully not too long. Hope you all have a great weekend! : )

Touch Of Magic Part II

Here are the pictures from yesterday's blog, that I took this morning. Sorry I didn't include any yesterday, I did my blog late last night, tried to take some pics & the lighting was terrible, so I tried again this morning & they look so much better. : )

The sample colour on the back of my hand
No idea why my eyes look so huge & deformed here!
You can see how pink it is, it matches my current nails.

Love this colour!
Tell me what you think. : )

Touch Of Magic

Firstly, I just want to say thankyou to all of you who take the time to read, comment & follow my blog. It means so much to me to know you're interested in what I have to say. Every comment puts a smile on my face - so massive massive thankyou's & love!

I hope you've all had a good weekend, I spent mine working again, but I'm excited about tomorrow. My friend is home from uni this week, so I get to spend tomorrow with her, shopping & eating pizza. : )

www.barrym.com
Anyway, I wanted to share this product with you. I got it about 3 years ago, as a birthday present. You should have seen my face when I opened it up & saw a bright green lipstick. I looked at my friend like she was insane, anyway, she insisted I try it on my lips & I instantly fell in love with the colour. It's a lipstick by Barry M called Touch Of Magic. It's a really clever product, it adapts to the alkali level of your lips & depending on this, how rich or pale the colour comes out on your skin. When I wear it, I get a very pinky rich shade, very different to my usual preferred colour of a dark red. However, its lovely for a change. Because I have very dry lips, I usually wear it with a lip gloss on top to keep my lips moist & I love the shine a lip gloss gives on top of a lipstick. They say this product should last 8 hours, I've worn it for about 5 & found it needs re-doing, but I'd still definitely recommend it. It costs just £4.49 from somewhere like Boots or you can buy it online here.

Let me know what you think of it, or if you'd used it before & fell in love with it as much as I did. : D

Nail Inspiration

I lost the shorts I was bidding on on Ebay. I was at work today so I couldn't keep a check on them during the last hour of bidding, which I can usually do & sneak in at the last minute. Oh well, they'll be others. Anyway, hope you've all had a good Saturday! Mine has involved picking up large amounts of popcorn & fizzy dummies off the cinema floor. (If you hadn't already guessed I work at the local cinema). It's really fun, I get to see loads of films for free, just not during half term when there is millions of kids shouting, giggling & chucking sweets everywhere. Urgh, anyways, I thought I'd show you a few pictures I found on weheartit, as inspiration for more nail art that I'm going to try next week.

penguins / cupcakes / spongebob theme
alice in wonderland theme / lace / cats

roses / hearts / clouds / bows

These are just some of the pictures I fell in love with. I love the detail people go into - it must take ages! Seriously, you have to wait for layers to dry, then if one goes wrong you have to start all over again. Patience is the key to having nails like these I think.

Morning Glory

So this is the film I watched on Tuesday night & thought it was good. It started off really slow but once you got in to it, it was fine. The lead role was played by my favourite actress, Rachel McAdams. I think she is just beautiful.

google images
I remember first seeing her in Mean Girls, alongside Lindsey Logan. But I think the first film I saw with her in that just blew me away was The Notebook based on the book by Nicolas Sparks. One of the saddest most beautiful films ever! What made it even better was she acted alongside Ryan Gosling & they bounced off each other really well. I just love everything about her, from being such a talented actress, a real genuine nice person & just absolutely gorgeous. Yes, it's fair to say, I have a crush on her.

Passion For Pink

Sooo, I've changed my blog abit. Looks a bit more 'me' now. What do you think? :)

Anyway, I was sorting through my nail varnishes yesterday, (I stupidly keep them on my shelf that is next to my window where the sun sometimes sneaks through & makes them dry up) & decided to play around with a few colours. I have two pinks, one bright & one pastel. You might have read my other post about pastel nail varnishes I own here. I used that pink by Barry M & my other bright pink, by Models Own called Sophie's Pink. (They have an offer on nail varnishes at the moment, check it out here). They have so many colours I always find it so hard to chose! Anyway, end result:

Sorry they are messy, I painted them yesterday & then had a bath & took the dogs out today, so not as good as they were when I first painted them. I started off by painting on the lighter shade, waited for it to dry, then painted a strip of the Model's Own brighter shade on to the side.

You can probably see I'm not the best painter of nail varnish, but I'm always wearing at least one colour all the time, even at work. So let me know what you think, I'm going to be doing alot more experimenting of my colours now I'm sorting them out, but I usually only paint them once a week, other wise I go through a ton of nail varnish remover! (& it stings my fingers!)

The Wonders Of The Countryside

It's beautiful weather today, the sun is out, birds are singing, it's just gorgeous. (Don't worry, I'm not about to burst into song!) Just taken my dogs out for a walk. They love this weather & hate the rain, so compared to yesterday, where I had to basically drag them outside, they happily bounced along today. We saw 7 buzzards, 4 deer, a fox & (so excited because they've come back again this year) 5 lapwings! They make the cutest noise, it's hard to describe, kind of like that electric noise you here on train tracks when a train passes through a station. I'm probably not explaining it very well, but its very cute! I'm absolutely in love with where I live (if you couldn't tell already!). I moved to the countryside about 6 years ago, with my parents, near to where our farm is. I've grown up with animals my entire life & I don't think I could imagine life without them. Apart from the usual house-hold pets, I've been lucky enough to have the typical farm animals too, such as chickens, cows, pheasants, peacocks, horses, etc. Because we live out in the countryside, we just have the adjoining house next door, but other than that, sheep are our nearest neighbours. No buses, no trains, just fields. It was really annoying getting around as I had to rely on my parents driving me places, but since I've learnt to drive, I've fallen in love with living here all over again.

So anyway, I thought I would post some pictures of my pets, so you can see how gorgeous they are.

Rosy & Emma - my first dogs. Both sadly are gone now, but they were lovely.
Harvey
We got Harvey 2 years ago from a rescue centre, he came over from Ireland & is our family dog. His favourite thing in the world is running & chasing smaller animals (such as foxes, rabbits, squirrels, etc). He's just a huge softy really.

Honey - 8 weeks
Honey - 3/4 months ago
This is my gorgeous Dachshund, Honey. She's the only dog we haven't rescued, I searched in rescue places & nobody seems to abandon this beautiful breed. You can see why though. I've had her just over a year now & she gets on so well with Harvey & my cat Strawberry. (Yes I know what your thinking, what the hell is your cat called Strawberry for!? I was 5 ok, I'll say no more!)

Strawberry
& here's some fun ones & some I've taken of my other animals. Enjoy!

Strawberry & Honey - playing!
Max
One of our chicks from last year
Moon (on the left) & Jake (right) Jake is a girl :)
Honey & Harv
Oscar - he is my Auntie's dog, but this picture just makes me laugh. Especially with my nan in the background!
Do you have any interesting 'out-of-the-ordinary' pets? : D

Floral Heaven

Hope you all had a good Valentines day! Mine was spent travelling on trains for 4 hours & then straight to work for a 6 hour shift, so not the most perfect day, but my weekend was pretty damn special.

On Saturday, my boyfriend took me out for a meal at this beautiful Indian restaurant & then to the cinema where we were going to see How Do You Know, the new film with Reece Witherspoon in, but it was sold out so we ended up going to see The Fighter. Not your typical Valentines day film, but it was actually really good. Here's my beautiful card & Toblerone, (YUM - one of my favourite chocolates).

Then on Sunday, I went to visit my best friend in Birmingham. Neither of us had ever been to Birmingham before, but it was a central meeting place, in between my boyfriend's uni & hers. We managed to find a huge shopping centre (wasn't that hard to be honest, it was right next to the train station!) & spent the day looking around the shops & eating Subways. I immediately fell in love with the huge Forever 21 shop. It had 3 levels! I had to buy something from there, so I settled for this gorgeous necklace:

Necklace: £2.80

I would have bought tons more, but I have limited funds until pay day on the 19th. I also got these from Primark:

 Earrings: £1

Makeup brush: £1.50

Earrings: £1.50 (3 pairs)

I'm in love with floral accessories & clothes at the moment. When I get paid, I'm so filling my wardrobe up with pretty floral items for the Summer.

How was everyone's weekend? Did anyone get any surprise cards? : D

It's Nice My Boyfriend Has A Full Length Mirror..

So, I'm currently sitting in my boyfriend's room, while he's out in a meeting & thought I would write a quick post. Last night, I caught the train to Leicester & arrived at 9.04pm to see him waiting for me on the platform. We hadn't seen each other for a month & I'm still proud to say after nearly 2 years of being together, he still makes my tummy flip like the first time I saw him. He walked me back to his, (my flowery pink suitcase in tow) & we talked. Like, properly talked for hours. Catching up on everything. We do speak everyday but usually by text, not the same as being in person. Anyway, becuase I leave on Monday, we've decided to make Valentines day tomorrow. I've got my dress all ready, (I'll make sure to post a picture of it at some point) for our evening out.

  Anyway, what I'm wearing today:

Tiger top: £8
Jeans: £8
Socks: £1

All Primark.

I love these jeans. I've had them ages & I basically live in them. The tiger top I bought last weekend & I was so annoyed they didn't have my size, but I still went & bought the larger one anyway. (I'm usually a 10, this is a 16!) It actually fits pretty well, but thats Primark sizes for you!

Has anyone got any plans for this weekend? I must say I'm feeling rather excited about mine. : D

Paris

http://www.tumblr.com/dashboard
Just found this photo & it made me even more excited about my holiday to Paris in April! I finally got round to getting my passport last year & jetted off to Spain for my first holiday abroad in the Summer. I was so excited to fly & see all the clouds, cities, rivers & villages below & to experience speaking the limited Spanish I knew from secondary school.. I couldn't remember much! I just kept mumbling & hoped they'd understand. Luckily, we were in a tourist area & most people spoke English anyway!

I love the french fashion, so I'll make sure to drag my boyfriend around all the best shops while we're there. Anyone got any recommendations of places to visit?I'm going to try & cram as much into the weekend as I can! :D

Anyway, I'm actually going to visit my boyfriend in uni tonight till Monday, might be able to steal his laptop to do a quick post, but if not, have a fab weekend & I'll write again when I'm back! : D

Meow

Today is so sunny! Finally feels like Spring is on its way. I've just taken my dogs out for a walk, I've got a lurcher (like a grey hound) called Harvey & a dachshund (sausage dog) called Honey. I live right out in the countryside. To give you a rough idea, when you look out my windows, all you can see are fields dotted with sheep! But I love it & the dogs do too. Anyway, back to what I was originally going to post, this gorgeous dress/top I got on Saturday:

Top/dress: £5

Sorry for the quality & angle of these photos, I'll try & get some better shots when I can. I wish I could tell you what shop I got it from, but it was one of those ones that's there for about 3/4months, has an on-going sale, then disappears. But I simply love it. I really like how the cats are on both the back & front of it & it is knitted but not as heavy as some jumpers can be.

What do you think? Good bargain? : )

Sopping Trip Part II: The Accessories

I did buy some clothes too, hopefully I'll post some up before I go away on Thursday for the weekend. But for now, have a look at these:

Rings:

New Look: £3

New Look: £3

Earrings:

Accessorize: £2.70 (sale price down from £7.00)

Primark: £1

Necklace:

New Look: £4

They aren't the best of photos, because I had a rush to take them before work, but I love owl accessories & my favourite earrings have to be the ones from Accessorize, the gold ones with the bird cages. I just love how unique they are & you can wear them for smart or casual wear. Also, going along with the owl theme, one of my best friends sent me this for Christmas:

She knows how much I adore owls & I'm absolutely in love with this necklace! I'm sorry I can't say where its from & how much because it was a gift, but thought I'd share it with you anyway. I've had so many compliments from wearing this & it goes with so many of my outfits that I wear day to day. Love love love it!

To Buy Or Not To Buy...?

So yesterday, I went shopping with one of my best friends. It wasn't just a normal shopping trip, oh no, it was the Valentines shopping trip. Like any shopping trip for him, it turns out to be all about certain questions, like; How much do I spend? Do I get mushy stuff because it's Valentines day or something general that I know he likes? & do I spend lots to find he only wanted a joke present from Hawkins Bazaar?

Now usually, I love buying presents for my other half. I get the best, most perfect thing I can find, not usually something expensive, but something personal for him. This year however, he is at uni for Valentines day. Not that I mind travelling up to see him & everything, I just had to contemplate how to get masses of presents, on the trains, for a two & a half hour journey. Not the easiest of tasks I can assure you. I managed to get two items (can't write what they are in case he comes snooping) that are good, but I need a few more ideas. I swear men are harder to buy for, I mean, I'd be happy with flowers & chocolate any day.

Sorry to the people who hate Valentines, I'll post pictures later of my shopping trip part 2, where I did buy a ton of stuff for myself as well! So much for making that trip all about my boyfriend...

Spring Nails

I know we're not even close to it being Spring yet, (especially as I nearly got blown away walking the dogs just now!) but yesterday was so sunny & warmer than it has been over the past few months, I thought I would get out my Spring colours. Last year, I totally fell in love with the pastel nail varnish colours from Barry M. A few years ago, I wouldn't even consider yellow as a nail varnish colour, I saw a girl wearing it & thought it looked tacky, but after seeing it in the pastel shades, not luminous colours, it definitely started to grow on me. Yellow is such a Spring / Easter colour as well, it fitted with the season & look I was going for. It seems to look alot better on my toes than finger nails, but definitely an amazing colour to try.

The pink one I just love because I own alot of pink, & it just suits me as a person (looks wise & personality!). The light shade means it goes with any outfit, being only slightly noticable & natural if you apply one layer. Applying slightly more means you get a really nice pink, not too bright & barbie-like, but nice & sutle. The blue one was more of a Summery choice. I own alot of blue dresses & I love nothing more than co-ordinating nail varnish with my clothes. (sad I know!) I visited the beach alot on holiday during the Summer last year & every time I wear it now, it reminds me of my holiday.

Barry M nail varnish in general, I find the best out of the nail varnishes I own. I love the huge range of colours they have & how long lasting they can be if you apply enough layers. Also, cheap cheap cheap!

This is just my opinion on these products, I'm in no way an expert! Just telling you guys my thoughts. Let me know what you think of them. :)

My Inspiration

  Hey everyone!

So, my first post on my new blog, how exciting!

I guess I should start off with what made me want to write this blog in the first place. I absolutely love reading, funny really, when I was made to read in those hour long English lessons in secondary school, I was so uninterested. Now I have the choice what to read & when, I'm more inclined to do it. So, usually I go to the local library & choose as many rom-coms as I can find! Yes, I'm a sucker for romance. But, I got a free book with a magazine a while ago & I was in the middle of reading another one at the time, so I put it on my shelf & forgot about it. I got to the point where I'd managed to read all the library books I'd picked up the week before & couldn't go out & get more so decided to raid my book shelf to find something. I found the book I'd got free & decided to give it a go. (It did fit the typical rom-com genre I love).

So this is when I was introduced to Lindsey Kelk's "I Heart New York". It tells the story of Angela Clarke fleeing her home after finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her & flies to New York. She meets a new friend, Jenny Lopez who gives her a total New York makeover & she starts dating two guys. You follow the story of her as she falls in love with the beautiful city & her choice between the two men after her heart. What makes this book my inspiration for this blog, is Angela writes a blog for a top magazine, The Look, about her adventures in New York. Ok, so I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, I haven't discovered my boyfriend has cheated in the back seat of a car with his tennis coach like Angela, I have never been so unhappy & in need of a new start, I've flown to another country like Angela, nor have I ever really dated two guys at once, like Angela. But, I promise you this, I will have some great adventures & stories of my own to write about. :)

If you fancy reading about Angela's adventures, there's also I Heart Hollywood & I Heart Paris that follow on from I Heart New York. I recommend them all if you love refreshing laughs & romance. & why not visit Angela's blog.
