Life Lately #129

Hello lovelies!

Long time no speak!
I've had a few weeks off blogging & I have to say, I've loved it. James & I moved in together (a month ago in 2 days time! Crazy how fast the time goes..) & we have just been so busy with everything, I've hardly found the time to just sit down with my laptop & type. In the moments I have had spare, blogging has been the last thing on my mind if I'm honest. I've been out & about with friends & eating lots of yummy things as I'm sure you can see from this update! Anyway, I can't promise I'm going to post as often as I did before, but I really do want to keep up with blogging, but when it feels right to me. There's been too many moments recently where I've felt forced to post when I really haven't been feeling it & that to me is not what I want my little space on the internet to be about. Anyway! Let's look back over the past 2 weeks!

At the end of April, Gemma celebrated her 26th birthday! We went to a lovely Italian restaurant called Filippos. We had a lovely table upstairs with plenty of room (there was around 20 of us) & we were supplied with countless bottles of wine & food. I had the risotti el pollo for main & chocolate tarte for pudding & then we headed into town for more drinks. I wore my new favourite jumpsuit (the one from BooHoo I wore to Maria's hen do) & got so many people ask me about it. It's just the best. I've found I can eat a crazy amount of food & no one knows as it does a great job of hiding my food baby!

Last week I went to visit my mum & all the lambs that have recently been born. Just look at their adorable little faces! They are so tame, the mummies come up to you to be stroked (& obviously have a nosey around to check to see if you have some food!)

Aren't these flowers just beautiful? With moving into our new place, I never expected people to be so generous with gifts, but the amount of cards, flowers, alcohol & house-warming gifts we have received has been over-whelming, so thankyou all again! We've also had some people over for dinner; James' mum & Barrie came last week, along with our friends Boop & Seb & we have James' dad & Maria booked in for next Monday night. We aren't the best in the kitchen, but apart from a failed mushy risotto, we haven't done too badly! (Sorry Boop & Seb!)

Last weekend Char came home for brunch so we headed to one of our fav restaurants, Bills. It was so lovely to catch up with her & the girls & we even managed to squeeze in a visit to our new flat so Mils & Char could see it with a cup of tea & cookies (brunch pudding, that should totally be a thing right?)

On Monday I had my hair cut & I seriously love it! I had quite a lot chopped off but seeing as I hadn't had my hair cut since the end of December, it felt way overdue. I'm debating whether to have my balayage put back in, but not sure. I do love having a few blonde bits in my hair because I think it really brightens it up, but it just costs so much to do! I need to befriend a hair dresser..

& finally on Tuesday night, James' mum & Barrie treated us to dinner at Cote. We haven't eaten there for a while, so it was lovely to go & they have brought back my favourite pudding; the praline, salted caramel, banana crepe. Oh my lord, if you can, go try it. It's amazing.

Hope you're having a fab week so far lovelies! : )

Life Lately #127

Hi lovelies,

My friend Bo was in a play called Family Planning a few weeks back & Gail, Cathy, Elisa & I went to watch her perform. It was such a good little show! Bo's boyfriend Chris was actually performing alongside her, so it was lovely to see them both on stage!

Hasn't the UK had a mixture of weather recently? Luckily the majority has been beautiful sunshine, mixed in with a few cloudy days. I met my girl Ricka for tea at our local garden centre last weekend & we managed to sit outside in the sunshine for about a couple of hours, catching up on life. We actually got so warm!

I also managed to meet up with Cathy, Boop, Gem & baby Alice for lunch after seeing Ricka. We went to Sumners Ponds, which is the most wonderful place. They have a few animals, a lake where you can camp in the summer & outside seating, where you can watch the fishermen around the lake. We had a walk after lunch & visited the cows & most importantly, had a well over-due catch up!

Ah, so I've been looking forward to last Sunday since the end of last year when I booked the tickets as a surprise for James! We drove up to London to see Craig David at the SSE Arena. It was absolutely incredible! We stopped for dinner at Nandos before hand & drove back home after the show. I can't stress how amazing it was to see him live on stage, he is such a talented man.

How has your month been so far lovelies?

What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #40

This is one of my favourite nail arts as it's so subtle but unique. Barry M glitters are so lovely as they look really effective, but aren't too difficult to remove, as some glitter polishes can be. Hologram always makes me think of that Dre song from years ago!

Ted Baker (no name sorry!)
This was one of the shades James bought me in a gift set at Christmas time & I love it so much! Just look at that shine.. I feel so glam when I wear it.

& what makes these nails even more glam? Throwing on a bit of glitter of course! I know I literally just typed Barry M glitter polishes are my favs, but Nails Inc are seriously on a different level (even though they are more difficult to remove) Just look at that sparkle.

Rimmel London - Tangy Tangerine
Ok, so I dreamt I had orange nails, I woke up & painted my nails orange. I actually used to hate orange nail polishes, but now I find them such a statement colour to have in my collection. This Rimmel London polish is just perfect for me. It's not bright & surprisingly goes with a lot of outfits.

What have you been wearing on your nails this month?

Spring

Spring always brings a smile to my face.

I took these photos on Mother's Day at the end of March. It was such a bright, beautiful day, I couldn't resist heading out with my camera & snapping a few pictures. You might recognise the final image of Honey, as I posted it on my Instagram a few days ago. How cute does she look!? She's gotten so fluffy this year, her hair has almost made her double in size (she looks incredibly fat!) Anyone else have this with their Dachshund when they hit a certain age?

I also adore photographing bees. There's nothing better than capturing them whizzing through the air or perched on a flower enjoying the sunshine.

Most of the images here were taken in my grandparent's garden. It's my absolute favourite place to come when I want to relax, as it holds so many childhood memories for me.

What do you love most about Spring?
Where is your favourite place to go from your childhood?

Life Lately #125

Hello lovelies,

I went to my first ever bra fitting just over a week ago. I know right, I've just never been brave enough to do it before, but I wrote a blog post on my experience & why I think it's such an important thing to do. I won't go into too much detail as like I say, I've written a whole post about it, but you can read it here if you like : )

I had a lot of leave left at work from this year, so I decided to take a few days off last week. It was so lovely to just be at home & doing lots of bits & pieces I never find the time to do. One of which was finally editing the footage from our holiday to Corfu last June. I couldn't be more proud of how it turned out! You can watch it on my YouTube channel if you like. I also noticed it became Spring, almost over night! The sun was shinning & it was actually so warm walking the dogs.

Last Thursday my parents went to Crufts. James & I went last year & after we came home & raved about how much we loved it, they decided to book tickets & go this year. Crufts is a big thing in my family & we all watch it together every year, but they'd never actually been. Did you watch it this year?

Last Friday, mum & I went to Guildford for the day. We did some shopping & I took her for tea at The Tea Terrace at the top of House Of Fraser. We had such a lovely day & managed to pick out a few options for an outfit I'm hoping to wear to a wedding in June.

For my birthday, Cathy bought me a voucher for afternoon tea, so on Sunday, we booked a table in the local tea room & got this feast! It was so nice, all the sandwiches & scones were freshly made & we even got a slice of cake to takeaway as well!

Oh & finally, Honey on my bed yesterday morning. She hasn't been feeling too well recently, just a bit of an upset stomach, so has been snuggling down with me watching Netflix before work. I'm finally up to date with Riverdale! Is anyone else watching it? I'm really enjoying it but find it a bit weird how sometimes a massive storyline in one episode won't even feature in the next.. I won't give away any spoilers, but those of you who are watching, do you feel the same? : )

Primark Nightwear Wishlist

Ok, so can you believe this set is only £10. Yup, that's right. £10. I seriously couldn't. It's one of those sets that I've seen so many bloggers rocking on Instagram in posh hotel rooms that I've completely fallen in love with them! They just look so glamourous.

Who could say no to a fox onesie? They have a load of onesies in store this year, mostly animals of the woodland variety, but I think this one is my favourite. The ears & heart belly sold it for me!

Deer are my favourite woodland creatures, so when I saw these PJ bottoms, I was immediately drawn to them. I only tend to wear PJ bottoms with cuffed legs (unless they have Dachshunds on & are mind-blowingly cute!) as I find other ones will just ride up your leg in the night & I always wake up freezing! Does that happen to anyone else?

Have you ever felt a Primark dressing gown? If not, stop whatever you are doing & find one! I've never owned clothing as soft as their dressing gowns. I purchased one at the end of summer, which I literally live in, it has Thumper on the hood. Its the most cosy, soft, warm item of clothing I own, so I really want another one to add to my collection!

& finally this sexy little number. How beautiful is this? I know we're in the middle of Winter but I think it will be perfect for Spring / Summer next year.

Have you got any nightwear items on your wish list this Christmas? Please link them below, I'd love to see!

What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #27

Sinful Colors - Easy Going
I absolutely love this shade as it's slightly different to a regular white nail polish. It's got a slight pink pigmentation to it, making it such a pretty varnish to wear on your nails. I find I can wear almost anything with this & it stands out so beautifully. The only thing I will say about it is it takes ages to dry. It's one of those ones that you literally have to give yourself a couple of hours before doing anything..

2 True - Shade 15 & Barry M Nail Art Pen in White
Another favourite nail art of mine to do is pin stripes. I love adding them to a pastel colour, so there not too in your face. They looked so cute with this blue polish from 2 True, which is such a bargain brand! I absolutely love their nail polishes.

Primark - Marshmallow
This shade cost me 80p. Yes, 80p & it's such a lovely colour. I'm a sucker for pink nail varnishes as I'm sure you all know by now, but it'll be perfect for Spring time.

Nails Inc - Grosvenor Crescent
A new favourite of mine, this shade is simply stunning! If you picked up last month's Glamour magazine, you would have received one of four nail polishes, this being the one that instantly caught my eye. It's so beautiful & perfect for Autumn / Winter.

What have you been wearing on your nails this month? : )

Collection Eyes Uncovered - Nude Bronze Palette

Hello lovelies!

I picked up this gorgeous nude palette a while back in Boots from Collection. It was such a bargain retailing at £3.99 (think it's currently £2.99!) & I couldn't believe my luck to find one without finger prints. Does anyone else find that the most annoying thing in the world?! Why can't people just use tester palettes..

First point I want to comment on is the pigmentation of these eye shadows. Oh my goodness, you seriously only need the tiniest amount on your brush & it does take a while to blend in, but they all have fantastic coverage.

The shades are also very shimmery. If you're not a fan of glitter or non-matte shades, I'd steer clear of this palette. I love glitter as much as the next 5 year old but even I struggled keeping it from straying down onto my cheeks when applying it!

Left - right: Ivory / Mink / Ochre / Golden Brown / Ember / Nutty
My favourite shades to use together are Ochre & Golden Brown, such beautiful warm tones for a day time look, but I find Mink & Nutty perfect for a sophisticated evening look.

Have you tried any of the palettes from Collection Cosmetics?

Oh & I reviewed the W7 In The Nude palette a few weeks ago if you wanted to pop over for a read!  I found it was a perfect dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette.

South Of England Show

Hello lovelies!

Last Thursday, myself & James went to the South of England show. It was absolutely boiling! Perfect day to spend in the sunshine with lots of food, animals & my lovely man.

Kimono - Select / Sunnies & Top - Primark / Shorts - TK Maxx / Shoes - Converse

I'm massively into tassels at the moment (can you tell!?) I took some leggings rolled up in my bag to throw on during the day but didn't need them - it was just so warm!

We enter our chickens every year in the show, but the Thursday is mainly for the sale. Gareth & Wilson went as part of a display.. & Wilson spent most of the day asleep.. bless him.

We also walked around the other animal tents, including sheep, goats, pigs & cows.

Oh & of course, my favourite tent.. the rabbits & guinea pigs.

Just look at how they sleep. Just piled on top of each other! Cuties.

We also ventured into the flower tent (I was sneezing the whole way round, damn you hayfever..) But just look at how beautiful some of the displays were..

We managed to pick up a few things for the garden while we were there too which was nice.

Now.. onto the food stalls. Oh my goodness.

First of all, just look at that fudge! There were loads of sweet stalls around, but this one just looked so tempting. James also sniffed out the chocolate fountain, so we "shared" some strawberries covered in chocolate. (I had one strawberry..)

Oh & look who was also there.. the Garlic Farm had a stall. Last Summer when myself & the girls headed to the Isle Of White, we visited the Garlic Farm. They have so many delicious sauces, oils, butters, you name it, they make it!

& finally I just had to include my two favourite items I bought from the day. First of all this ice cream. Amazing! I had one scoop of honeycomb & the other was toffee & butterscotch. Secondly, this gorgeous glass jar. I just couldn't resist the thought of sitting in the garden in the summer, with a lemonade.

How has your weekend been lovelies?

Life Lately #80

Hello lovelies!

At the end of May, we dog sat Tetley. Isn't he just the most beautiful dog? James' family went to see a Strictly Come Dancing show at our local theatre, so we looked after him for the night. He was so well behaved & even resisted our takeaway without too much use of those puppy dog eyes..

Ah Sunday roast! I really don't have enough of these. I usually work Sundays so miss out on them, but recently I've either been off or had shorter shifts, so was able to meet up with the girls for a bite to eat at lunchtime.

On 1st June, myself & James celebrated our 2 & a half year anniversary & him finishing 2nd year of uni (any excuse for a date night..!) so we went to the Giggling Squid in our local town. You might remember me mentioning this restaurant before as myself & the girls went there for my birthday back in January. It does the most gorgeous food, definitely worth a visit!

Last Friday I had my hair cut. I won't bore you with the whole backstory, as I've already posted about it last week, but I'm so so so happy with it! I had a good chunk cut off & am feeling a lot more sophisticated with my new do. Amazing what a few inches off can do for your mood.

On Saturday, myself, Boop, Gem & Cathy went out for dinner & a catch up. It was so lovely to see them. We rarely get to meet up because of our rotas & shift work, but we discussed Gem's wedding plans (which is less than 3 months away now!) & hen do plans. Can't wait for August now!

Last Sunday, myself & all the lovely ladies from work took part in the Race For Life. It was such an amazing & emotional day. I've written a full post on it which you can read here if you like. : )

& on the Sunday evening, after completing the race, I met up with Kym, Lauren, Lorna & Boop for dinner. We went to ASK Italian & had the most delicious meal. I had the Pollo Piccante Con Pancetta & the Chocolate Amore cake for pudding.

Finally, yesterday myself & James made the most of the sunshine & went to the South Of England Show for the day. It was so gorgeously hot! I'm going to do a full post on our day so keep your eyes peeled for that. : )

How has your week been lovelies? : )

What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #23

Primark - Un-named
First off is this bargain of a polish from Primark. Unfortunately it doesn't have a name, but was only 80p! The only thing I've found with Primark nail varnishes is they are a devil to remove, but this one wasn't too bad! Lovely colour to add to my collection.

Sally Hansen - Blue-Away
This is another new addition to my collection. It's such a perfect shade for Spring & is very long lasting on the nails. It's advertised as being a 'quick dry' polish & it really was! Perfect if you're in a rush for a night out.

Fearne Cotton - Coral Island
If you've been a follower of my blog for a while now, you know I can't resist a nail polish by the beautiful Fearne Cotton. Her range of colours are gorgeous. This coral colour is showing up a lot redder in the picture than it is on the nails, but it's a perfect shade for the warmer months.

Sinful Colors - Pink Forever
One of my absolute favourite shades. I decided this would be the perfect nail polish to wear on my nails (including toes!) when we went away to the Carey's Manor Hotel last weekend. (you can read all about our adventure here if you like!) It's a Barbie pink that lasts forever on the nails! Love it so much.

What have you been wearing on your nails this month? : )

W7 "In The Nude" Natural Colour Palette

Morning lovelies!

You know when you buy a new beauty related item & you're so excited to use it, but being a blogger means you have to photograph it first? Yeaaaaah, I was obviously too lazy to do that straight away as I bought this palette back in January & totally forgot I owned it till recently! So I grabbed my camera & ran outside to catch a few rays of sunshine & decent light to snap these shots before using it.

I picked up this palette from TK Maxx, but if you guys don't have one in your local area, I also found it on Fragrance Direct or you could just simply search on Amazon.

I thought this palette would be perfect for Spring / Summer time. I also tend to stick to nude / light shades in the warmer months & go for darker shades in Autumn / Winter.

Left - Right: Latte / Angel / Venice / Marilyn / Copper Pot / Sun Kissed / Alice / Bad Manners / Coffee Cup / Mud Slide / Tokyo / Fashionista
I've done a few looks using this palette so far & I absolutely love it! My two favourite shades to use together are Marilyn & Alice. They are both matte shades & give your eyes the perfect nude spring look. The darker shades in the palette are perfect for evening looks. I've been using Sun Kissed with Coffee Cup in the eye crease to give off a summer vibe. Angel I've found is a very shimmery glitter eye shadow & is best used on top of a light base colour. It really sets off your eyes by adding a subtle sparkly effect.

What I love about this palette is you can create so many different looks & the shadows are amazing quality & won't crease throughout the day. I do long shifts at work & usually go out either before or after, so I need reliable makeup on at all times! I'd say these shadows stay on without creasing for around 12 hours, which is brilliant!

This palette is definitely worth the price tag of £5.99 (& it's even cheaper online than what I bought it in store for!) I've been hunting in TK Maxx for other palettes by W7 & only ever seem to find ones that someone has stuck their fingers in! So annoying..

Have you tried any of the W7 range? I would love to hear your thoughts :)

What I've Been Wearing On My Nails #22

Fearne Cotton - Cotton Candy
Another gorgeous shade from Fearne's range. I love wearing pastel colours in the Spring / Summer & this one is the perfect shade. I was obsessed with lilac last year & it seems to have carried over into this year!

Orly - Harmonious Mess
Ah this colour, what can I say? I always feel like I've had a professional manicure when I wear this. It's such an effortless finish & looks beautiful on the nails.

Sinful Colors - Easy Going / Barry M - Nail art pen in pink & white
This was a spur of the moment nail art, but I like it. Can never go wrong with flowers in Spring time!

NYC - Mint Macaroon
& finally another favourite of mine. I used to wear this shade constantly & after rediscovering it a few weeks ago, it hasn't left my nails! I always find that the NYC polishes are a complete bargain, they last forever on the nails, even after two coats. Mine only slightly chipped after a week.

Life Lately #76

Morning my lovelies,

How are you all? I've been loving this warm weather lately. I mentioned in my last post that I've been getting back into my health & fitness, but I hate running & walking on my own.. so I've been dragging my dogs with me! I say dragging, Harvey is only too happy to accompany me & Honey, well, depends on her mood! You can see from the second photo along that she's more into chocolate eggs than an exercise routine!

I managed to have a catch up with Gemma last Thursday. We went to one of the unhealthiest places to eat in our local town.. just look at that crepe! It was filled with chocolate & praline oh & a helping of cream on the side. Delicious. And is it just me, or does everything taste better when it's in a glass with a straw?

My mum bought me the cutest mug last week, I've fallen in love with robins even more this year as a family have decided to nest near our house. The come & sit near you if your in the garden & are so beautiful to watch.

Last Friday I drove up to Gloucester to visit James at uni. We went shopping, watched movies & ate Chinese. It was such a lovely chilled weekend. I said goodbye to him yesterday & drove back home. I won't see him now for a month because of exams, which is heart wrenching, but least we still have ways of keeping in touch. (That's a lot more than we had when he went to Africa!)

Finally, our first two ducklings were born! This little one is just the cutest. If you've ever held a ducking, they're one of the wriggliest animals to hold! I could only keep this one still long enough for a quick photo before it was squirming around again. So cute.

How has your week been lovelies? : )

OOTD - Easter Bunny

Hello lovelies,

Hope you're all well : )

I haven't done an OOTD for absolutely ages! I wanted to show you what I wore to lunch with my grandparents on Easter Sunday. I was lucky enough to get the day off work, so my parents, Auntie & Uncle went to visit my Grandparents. I did a full post on the day which you can read here if you like : )

It seems silly to me looking back at this outfit 2 weeks later as I'm now sitting in 24 degree heat in my garden, wearing shorts & a tee & here I am in a leather jacket, jumper & tights. Crazy English weather.

Anyway, the outfit. I picked up this rabbit jumper in the Primark sale for £7 & thought it would be perfect for Easter (& when I'm having a lazy day round the house with leggings!) My trusty leather jacket from Select Fashion never leaves my side these days. It's just the perfect jacket to throw on over any outfit & is a lot cooler than a winter coat.

This beautiful floral skirt is actually a dress from New Look & I thought it would go in perfect contrast with the biker boots & jacket. I got these boots from Primark for Christmas last year & adore them! They just add character to an outfit without being too OTT.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend! I wrote a full post on my Easter nails & our adventures over the 4 day weekend if you'd like to read, just follow the links.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend : )

Life Lately #75

Hello lovelies,

How are you all? I've been getting back into my health & fitness this month, starting with my new purchase, a blender. I made my first smoothie & got a bit excited by throwing in every fruit we had in the house into one bottle.. it tasted ok, but I really need to find some good recipes for smoothies. Is there any you'd recommend? I've also been jogging every other day / 3 times a week to get a toned body for summer. Primark's sports wear section has been a complete life saver!

Did you see my Easter posts? I decided to try my first ever set of false nails over the Easter weekend & spent the day on Sunday with my family.

I've also been loving this hot weather! James has been home over Easter, so we've been doing lots of fun things around work in the sunshine. This was my outfit of the day last week when we went to see Fast & Furious 7. It was amazing. Seriously. I've loved the previous movies for as long as I can remember & was so excited to see it even though it's the last one with Paul Walker. I wore my Dad's denim shirt, with leggings & my trusty New Look boots.

Last Monday, I went to see McBusted in Bournemouth with the girls. We saw them last year in London & decided to go for the standing area this year. We travelled down by car & stopped for a cheeky Nandos on the way. The concert was amazing. The atmosphere was incredible & the boys didn't disappoint : )

Hope you've had a lovely week lovelies!

Nails #21

Fearne Cotton - Lady Grey
This polish is so beautiful. I feel like I'm a mermaid when I'm wearing it. It's very long-lasting on the nails & you only need a few coats to achieve this shade. I find some polishes like this take about 200 coats to achieve a non-watery consistency, but like I say, you only need a few coats of this one.

Fearne Cotton - Burnt Out
Another gorgeous shade from Fearne Cotton's collection & slightly more out of my comfort zone. I do wear all different colours on my nails, but orange is one I struggle with. This one is simply stunning. I can't say no to a sparkly polish!

Barbara Daly - Purple
This one is a proper stable colour for work. Our colour scheme is purple with a black & white uniform, so this does perfectly for every day wear.

Primark - PS Love Fashion Nails
Now, these are my first ever false nails. Yup, that's right. I've never applied false nails before, I've always done my own nail art. I bought these well over a year ago from Primark (along with some bright pink sparkly ones..) & they've finally seen the light of day! All thanks to Easter. So there we go, my first ever 'fake' manicure. And I love them. I've written a full post on these nails which you can read here if you're interested : )

I also wrote a post about my Easter adventures, which you can read here if you like. Our first lambs were born & we ate the biggest chocolate log you can imagine! : )

Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend!

Easter 2015

Hello lovelies,

Hope you all had a lovely Easter :)

I wanted to post today to show you what I got up to over the weekend. Sadly I was working 2/4 days, so not bad seeing as the theatre I work at is open every day.

I managed to spend Easter Sunday daytime with my family & the evening with James' family.

We started the day with an Easter egg hunt, which my mum loves doing for us every year! Honey especially loves helping in the garden..

At the end of each clue, we found an egg & then this little cutie at the end!

After the hunt, James went to his family for lunch while myself, mum & dad went to my Grandparents'. We had the most amazing spread of buffet food, followed by the biggest chocolate log you've ever seen.

We bought my Grandad the cutest hat (which completely clashed with his shirt but we won't worry.. haha)

I took a few photos in my Grandparents' garden while we were there, it's so beautiful in the Spring time.

We currently have a local farmer hiring one of our fields to raise his 18 sheep. After lunch on Sunday, we walked across to see them, but sadly there were no lambs yet.. Harvey loves them & can't resist saying hello : )

My mum went down to see them again Monday morning & we had our first lambs! They are so adorable & have started playing with the other sheep. (much to their annoyance!)

How was your Easter weekend my lovelies?
